Malacca Trip

Here's a lil' somethin about my recent Malacca trip. Decided to go down there with a few of my classmates.

Seng Yew, Joanne, See Sin, Joseph, & Kiat Loong

Took a bus in the morning. Surprisingly comfy bus ride took about 2 hours. And it only cost RM7.80. Bloody hell, that's so much cheaper than taking an executive bus like Nice from KL to Penang. My classmate and host/tour guide, Soon Lee picked us up and got to his house in Simpang 4, Alor Gajah. Dropped our stuff off, and off for the day trip round Malacca town.

First was a meal of the famous Chicken Rice ball. It looks interesting, but really, doesn't taste too different from normal chicken rice. As for desert, we went to the nearby Tan Kim Hock dodol factory, for chendol.

Chicken Rice ball, yum-yum

Then, off to the tourist spots. Got to around Christ church, in fact I got to go inside, my first time. Really beautiful interior, with a painting of the last supper behind the altar and graves down the aisle and at the foot of every pillar. Felt pretty authentic this church.

Next stop was Dataran Pahlawan and the famous A'Famosa fort. There was a busker at the ruined chuch at the top. Was pretty good.

We even went to a buddhist temple. Supposedly the most well known and probably oldest in Malacca. All I can say is nice ceilings and rooftop decos. My first time actually being in a temple.

Can't remember the name of the temple, but a beautiful on though

Now, this is my favourite part of all. SATAY CELUP!!! Omg, you have gotta try this. Its so bloody tasty, I could eat this everyday. Sort of like Lok lok but with Satay sauce in the boiling pot.

SATAY CELUP!!! GO CRAZY MAN!!!

We manage to go to the beach(full of stones) to watch the sunset. Skipped a few rocks, and had rock throwing competition.

Sunset, peace...

Jo and me on the rocks...lol

It was time for food again. This time was really adventurous, siham(kerang) and lala in a dirty old backlane. By the way, siham and lala are types of shellfish. Before we could start, it was like the seas in the sky opening up and it poured like mad. We still managed to eat, under heavily dripping umbrellas. There was even Sotong kangkung and rojak. Supposedly a famous food spot in Malacca coz I saw newspaper clippings on the wall. Wonder if they were actually pointing out dirtiest spots to eat at. I didn't feel quite adventurous so I decided to survived on my reserve of Satay Celup in my tummy.

Take a look at that lil' rascal, come to papa....

After that, we drove around malacca town for a while, while our 'tour guide' explained. I have to say, it was an experience juz sitting in a car cruising around Malacca. Most of the roads were one way streets and we could be driving around for ages and end up at the same spot without knowing it. The roads were so beautiful coz it was like roads thru nostalgic buildings painted and lighted up in red.

At the hot spring, water was so hot we had a hard time trying to soak ourselves.

On the way home, we stopped at a hot spring, and juz relaxed in the water. What a relief from a tiring day of travelling. All of us were feeling so sticky and sweaty and seriously yearning for a nice hot shower.

Got home to my friends, took a shower, and out we went again to Tampin for Satay and Char Koay Teow. Omg, The Char koay teow was arguably the best I've ever tasted. Penang's can't even beat it. We managed to drive into the A'Famosa Resort on the way home. Nice place, with a cowboy town, exclusive residence, hotels, and a safari park. It was all dark at night though.
Crazy friends drove like riders from hell. The roads were so empty around that area so we had a lil' danger fun I confess. I did freak out, mind you.

The place was so busy at 1 am, we had to bbq our own satay

By the time we got home, it was 2 in the morning. Gambled till 6 or so. Fell asleep till 12pm and caught the 3.30 bus home. This time the bus wasn't that comfy. It was hot, and bumpy. All in all a good trip. Next trip, East Malaysia(nah, juz kidding).
