Homestays in Malaysia

I live in an area with several college and universities around and it isn't surprising to see many homes around here being rented out and mostly to these students, especially Tunku Abdul Rahman College students. See, I was a student there too, and I was lucky that I was brought up in this area, so during my college days, I didn't have to go through the hardships of renting a place.

I've heard many stories from friends about renting a place and more often than not, not very good ones. All the way from lousy housemates, leaking pipes, to just being way out of any shops or plain expensive.

I always thought how these people actually finally decide on a house or apartment to rent. For me I would be so fussy about everything. Thus, when I came across this iBilik Malaysia advert on the back of a taxi, I wondered if my these students actually use this to look for a place. I was curious so I went to check it out online.

I actually thought it was pretty good stuff, I mean, it was easy to look for a place online. Just type in what you're searching for and wallaa... some even comes with pictures. of course you would still have to call and meet up and get everything done the old way, but really deciding on one should be far easier than checking out printed or hand-written adverts at bus stops and on lamp posts.

I also found out that the website also gives the opportunities for short term stays. It's like Malaysia Homestays. I thought is was a great idea. people coming to visit for a day or two now need not spend a fortune at hotels. They could get a homely place for a reasonable price... and fast too.

Hmm, this just gave an idea, I probably should put up my empty house up on the wall, who knows... could use a few extra bucks u know.
